Financial Support for Congress 2024

There are a few sources of financial support to help attendees present at the conference. Please see the eligibility requirements and how to apply below.

Congress Graduate Merit Award:

CGMA Award Eligibility:
Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be graduate students (M.A., Ph.D.) enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada, in a field directly relevant to South Asian Studies;
  2. Be in good academic standing (applicants can choose to demonstrate this by providing a copy of a recent academic transcript, and/or a letter of support from an academic supervisor);
  3. Be current members of CSASA-ACESA in good standing;
  4. Provide an abstract (max. 250 words) of their presentation at Congress 2024.

Congress Child and Dependent Care Subsidy:

Through the Federation, CSASA-ACESA is also able to offer one Child and Dependent Care Subsidy of 200$CAD for Congress presenters. This subsidy is intended to help offset the cost of child and dependent care, enabling presenters with dependent care responsibilities to participate in the meeting. If you are interested and eligible to apply, we strongly encourage you to do so by Friday, March 29, 2024, 23:59 EST. Child and Dependent Care Subsidy Eligibility (set by the Federation):
Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Participate in the CSASA-ACESA’s conference as presenter, chair, moderator, or respondent;
  2. Be current members of CSASA-ACESA in good standing;
  3. Be registered for Congress 2024;
  4. Provide a statement (max. 250 words) describing your needs and estimated cost of financial support requested.

Priority will be given to graduate students, early career researchers, and Congress participants that meet the registration category of Black and Indigenous students (status, non-status, Métis, Inuit) and unwaged participants.
